eeek, I'm nervous!
I think I am about to BOOK MY ONE-WAY TICKET TO THE UK and I am fucking scared to death.

And excited. I think I am more excited than scared. But booking makes it seem so definite.

I should stop thinking about it and just email the travel agent to confirm my booking. I keep hesitating though. Haha, chicken. But as if I'm going to change my mind anyway. I've been excited about this ever since I got back from the UK last time.

edit: I realised the thing I am most nervous about is the fact it is a ONE-WAY ticket. Even though I have been told I will have no problems getting in because I'll have a 2-year working visa (return tickets are only valid for 1 year), I'm still nervous about any problems. I like the idea of the one-way ticket because I could be gone for more than a year and it is less restricting to not have a time limit, but a return ticket = security. I always have a ticket to come home. But I want to go to the US on the way home after the UK, so I wouldn't even be leaving FROM the UK to get back to Australia. Argh, I just don't know whether I should get a return after all. I would definitely feel safer, but restricted. Eeep.

booking plane tickets is ridiculously terrifying. i am so jealous just now. have you decided if you will make it to the us at all? because you are so staying with me if you are. also, i will perhaps make it to the uk at some point. what area are you doing your working holiday in?

I really really want to come via the US -- it was sort of why I ended up getting just a one-way and not a return, because if I come through the US, it'll likely push my entire time away to more than a year, plus I'd come home from somewhere in the US, instead of flying back to Heathrow to come back.

I definitely want to visit you when I'm over missy, so stay in touch!! :D

&working holiday = London area, I think. I think it'll be much easier to get temp work there in the office & financial district, especially as I work in insurance. I don't think I'll live in London though, but just outside.

every few years my department takes a trip to england to explore london's theatre district. i believe the trip is next year [it would have been this year, but one of the key profs was on sabbatical]. if i have the money, i will definetly be there in may.

*huggles* is the return ticket just a security thing 'cos a] you know you can return at any time or b] you know you have the $$ to return
    scarlet's walkkisstheviolets on June 2nd, 2005 03:44 am (UTC)
yup, got it in one :)
but i think i'm just going to bite the bullet and get the one way, as long as i put the money aside for a ticket back then i can still come back at any time.
or if worse comes to worse... that's what credit cards are for ;)

*huggles* you could always just leave that "ticket $$" with your folks when you go ... and they can put it into your bank account when you need it. Just incase!! That way you have the security that you know you can get home etc but without the time restrictions =)

hey, that's a good idea, giving it to my parents... that way I won't be tempted to spend it *laughs* thanks babe! :)

i'm always full of good ideas!! =) Then you can't spend it while you are away and if you find you have enough money to buy your ticket home you'll have some spare $$ when you come back =) [which i'm sure you won't complain about etc etc]
