Harry Potter fans can relate, I'm sure...
3 days !!

So how are you lovelies (the Harry Potter fans anyway) planning to spend this weekend? ;)

What time does the book come out where you are? I mean, it's 12:01am English time (July 16), and it's being released at 8:31am (July 16) over here. Which is the perfect time really, because it means 2 full days of reading time ahead (well, for those who don't have to work on weekends, but anyway). I still haven't preordered my copy yet but I think I will tomorrow night anyway, just because it was fun getting to the bookstore early on Saturday morning with all the other mad fans, and being all excited and talking about the books with random strangers whilst waiting in line. Then I will grab some snacks from the supermarket, and go home to curl up in the lounge room and either have the movies on in the background (even though I don't like them a lot, but it will set the mood), or the soundtracks on in my iPod. I think. The other possibility is to stay out, go to a cafe and order a drink or some breakfast and read for a bit and soak in the atmosphere (and see how many others are doing the same). Not sure yet.

What are you guys going to do?

Also, I'm still undecided as to whether I am going to try and read it slowly and savour it (after all, it's been 2 years since the excitement of the last one, and who knows how long it will be until number 7?), or whether the anticipation will be too much and I'll end up finishing it over the weekend, and then going back to read it slowly. That's what ended up happening last time. Plus I'm scared that if I read it slowly (although somehow I sort of doubt I will be able to do that no matter how good my intentions are; I've never been able to read a new HP book slowly, even when I first started reading them and there were 4 I had to catch up on) I'll go online and read spoilers somewhere (probably not from my friends list because everyone here is respectful enough to put spoilers under a cut... RIGHT?); I think I will avoid my usual places I go to (like the Vogue forums, or at least the Arts section) until I've finished reading it.

Haha, I am a DORK. :D

Anyway, tell me what you plan to do. I'm curious :)

I will probably go out at midnight to the grocery store, which is staying open til 1am that night to release HP at 12:01am. Reading will have to wait, since I have a nine hour shift on Saturday. I might just lay on it for awhile and pet it lovingly.

I'll probably end up reading fast. I tried to be calm about #5, and I just couldnt' find good stopping points without reading a huge chunk. I stretched it 3 days, which was good for me. I ruined the big death mystery for myself by accidentally opening RIGHT to the page. -_-

hehe, that's what I'm scared of doing too. I love to flick through new books but if something catches my eye, I just keep reading... probably not a good idea with this one :)

I will probably try to read it slow, but I doubt it will last much longer than the weekend ;)

Wow!
I think it took me most of the weekend to read OoTP, and even after that, I had a huge headache. But oh, I just couldn't put it down :)

sigh. Johnny Depp AND Harry Potter all in one weekend. It would be too much for me to handle! ;)

I may go to my local bookstore's Potter Party on the 15th. I've decided that I'm wearing a mismash of black&white, stripes&polkadots. And a witch's hat. (I've still got to find the latter.)

At midnight, I suppose I will hop over to another, bigger bookstore, where a copy will be waiting for me. Then I will hug it and admire it and force myself to go to sleep without reading any. The next morning, I will wake freakishly early, but vow not to read until I am dressed. After I am dressed, I will read feverishly, taking breaks between every chapter because I am scatterbrained like that. The next day, I will hop on a plane to Ohio and, of course, take the book with me.

And I'm afraid of spoilers, too! Glad to know yours will be under a cut, if you post any. Though I might not even have computer access until after I have finished reading, so it might not even matter. :)

oooh, a Potter Party! I should see if there are any going on here, the night before.
Take photos of your costume?

I have to WORK on Saturday, so I'll probably end up picking it up in the morning before I head out. I don't want to go at midnight again; way, way too busy!

I'm reading it as fast as I can to avoid coming across any spoilers online.

Oh goodness; having to work all day before being able to read it would be a killer! But you'll enjoy it all the more when you finally get the chance to relax with it :)

I'm going to do my best to hold on to it and not crack it open until I get on a plane next Wednesday to visit my brother in Michigan...we'll see!

I'm not a very fast reader just yet...last one took three days. Hopefully, this one goes a bit faster...how quickly do you think you're gonna read it?

I'm looking forward to it but I don't quite share your excitement, lol. I wish I did though!

I'll be staring at it all day at work on Saturday, where I work from 5:30 am (we open at 6 am) to 2pm. Then I'll go home at 2pm and start reading. Although our dear Adam, a fellow employee, will be reading the book to kids as part of our "activities." I'm hoping he doesn't get too far - I'd rather not hear snippets of pages I haven't read yet myself!!

You are not a dork. I must be a dork bc I haven't read the books or seen the movies. My sister tells me I am missing out!!
    scarlet's walkkisstheviolets on July 15th, 2005 02:16 pm (UTC)
they are wonderful. I didn't know what all the fuss was about before I read the books, then after I read the first one, it was like, "wow..." The movies don't impress me too much, but I adore the books so much :)

I'm debating if I should try to keep mum awake so she can drive me to some store (we get it around 1 a.m.) or just wait nicely until the morning and pick up a copy then.
i am looking forward to a hopefully nice read though.

I'll probably be in town the night before for a few drinks so I might pop in the book shop on the way home to pick up a copy seeing as it's opening up all night especially!

I haven't pre-ordered mine yet, I don't think it will be a problem though because last time every store had SO MANY copies... so hopefully *fingers crossed*
I might just mug some kid if I don't get a copy tomorrow ;) (just kidding!!!)
I am going to TRY and read it slowly... eeek lol. I don't think that will last long though!
