pieces of her

Oh dear... today is the 10-year anniversary of when I first started keeping an online journal. Way back when I was 17, fresh out of high school. And now here I am, 27, and still writing.

>> My very first online journal entry (rather embarrassing, really. I actually archived them all here at livejournal, so they were all in the one place, but sometimes that is slightly regrettable!)

I think the funny thing is that what I wrote on this day, 10 years ago, still holds true for today, and is still why I continue to write online:

But I think a journal can help both the readers and the writer. Reading other people's diaries makes me feel less alone. Their feelings often mirror mine, and everyone elses.

I have met some of the most amazing people I know online in this 10 years, including some of my closest friends, and countless people who have inspired me beyond belief. My journal entries are sometimes embarrassing to read, but I feel so very grateful that this form of writing has led me to such an amazing & diverse group of people, some of whom will perhaps never know how much they have touched me.
