can anyone recommend, or tell me what you use (&whether you would recommend it or not)...

- a 35mm compact camera
- a digital camera
- a SLR camera

specific brands & names of styles etc would be appreciated :) as i'm starting my research on buying a new camera (not sure which of the 3 sort to get just yet) but there are so many out there, how do you narrow it down?

by the same note, i'm looking into photography courses to do next year. evening classes would be the best, but if nothing else, correspondence would be a start. i miss having a hobby to be passionate about.

I use a Canon Powershot A10 (digital), at the moment. It takes good pictures but isn't very customizable and that bothers me, so now I'm after this camera. Unfortunately it's a bit out of my price range... ;P

I think it's great that you are going to do something like this though and I hope you share the results with us here :)

I have a manual, used Minolta with a 35mm-70mm lens, I love it.
But I mostly post pictures here with my Olympus C-350 Camedia -digital camera. I quite like it, and the quality & brand are good.

i use the Canon EOS(SLR) Rebel G 35mm ...

go here for description, features, and prices i think i paid $300+ for mine but there are some listed there for much cheaper.

my only complaint: i'm lazy and haven't bothered to read the manual:D..

i LOVE my digital camera. it's a sony....don't know the model offhand but i'll be glad to tell you more about it if you want. in addition to taking still photographs, mine also shoots videos and records sound. it uses the sony memory stick for storage, but i got one by a knock-off brand on amazon for MUCH cheaper and am very happy with it.
i'd rather be a mystery: my mind won't rest and i don't sleepmordainlove on October 29th, 2003 10:09 am (UTC)
I've got a Canon Powershot a20 digital camera... I love it and it takes some pretty amazing pictures. Of course, it can be a little tricky -- sometimes the flash is too bright, or not bright enough (outside in severe shade you have to use a low light flash setting). It basically acts like a normal 35mm camera, only it's digital. :)

i have a shinynew! digi-camera, a sony one... i haven't even looked at it too much, to be honest. i don't know which brand it is. so this won't help too much, actually.

bah, i'm crazy.

i like taking pictures with it, but i prefer buying disposable cameras because they are cheap (well, kinda) and basically you need a lot of skill manually, because it doesn't have any tools on it.

click!click!click! is all i ever really need. i should buy myself a proper 35mm camera someday soon.

Any kind of digital for me, but then again, I'm a beginner and the option to see what image I've captured would be helpful for now.
