scarlet's walk

i had to fill in a self-analysis form for my writing course...

and finally, is there anything you would like us to know about you and your aspirations?

I have always wanted to do something worthwhile, that could make a difference. It’s a big call, but I don’t just want to be a part of the rat race – I want to do something real, have a VOICE, have my voice BE HEARD. If I can evoke emotion through my writing – anger, sadness, recognition, empathy, disgust – and if I can inspire people to think and to act, then that is what I want to do. I want to TALK to people through my writing – to reassure that everyone is a worthwhile person, encourage them to believe the best of themselves and each other. I want to be able to say to teenagers struggling to define themselves, “you don’t need to be like ‘everyone else’ – embrace your INDIVIDUALITY, be proud of who you are. Don’t let the magazines tell you what to wear, the movies to tell you what is cool. Being different can be beautiful. You CAN be yourself.” To reach out a hand through words to someone on the edge of a breakdown, encourage them to find help, to call upon those who’ll listen. To educate those who feel like victims of circumstance – empower them, remind them of CHOICES, that nothing is hopeless and everything has hope. I want to make people believe that they CAN make a difference, and encourage them to do so – encourage them to learn, and to act. Words have been my own saviour for so long now – and I aspire to share that gift with everyone.
