A million thankyous to miss withkindlyeyes for sending me copies of London's TNT Magazine and In London - they are brilliant! ♥ I adore these magazines so much - I started reading them when I was in the UK last year, they are specifically aimed at backpackers and travellers and have loads of information about jobs & recruitment, accomodation & housing, travel & tours, tax & financial info, plus general London and other information. They are so useful. Thankyou so much Sophie, I was so excited to read them :) I have been bookmarking some different recruitment agencies in London (particularly those for temps) that I can get in contact with when I arrive in the UK, and it makes me feel a bit more confident about finding work.

Also, I am setting up a new email account for work/job related mail (eg, to sign up with recruitment agencies and email my cv from), and I don't really want to use my usual one (@faerywinged.org) because I don't know how professional that looks, really; but I still want to access it from both webmail (for when I'm travelling) and on a mail program like mozilla thunderbird which is installed on my laptop). So, a poll! I figure gmail/yahoo mail are pretty reliable and stable too (which is why I always went back to hotmail, until they stopped us from downloading mail into a mail program, grr). Other suggestions are welcome too. Considering I said I didn't like gmail, but maybe it's time I changed my mind. Ha.

Poll #565797 which is the best email account to use via outlook/thunderbird mail?

gmail -vs- yahoo! mail -vs- other

yahoo! mail

if other, which one? (details if possible, eg, webhost server, isp account etc)

I'm sure these online-related polls are annoying, but you guys know way more than I do about this stuff ;)
And don't worry, this isn't another email address change, it's only for job & professional stuff.

&other things-

x. sea__secret sent me a copy of her latest zine, Lila #5, and it is wonderful, as always. Jess's zines are definitely amongst my favourites (thankyousomuchJess♥)
x. mail from drawalittlestar is wonderful, even if it takes me a week to say thankyou ;) (*mwah*)
x. miss sparkleoflife has been so wonderful and giving me lifts into work each morning, I am so grateful to her (and love being able to see her every day ♥ life gets too busy sometimes)
x. Kristy and I saw the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last night; Johnny Depp was sexy as Willy Wonka but the rest of the movie doesn't live up to the original version (just my opinion though)
x. the weather is very springlike and beautiful right now. But it was snowing in the movie last night and I got all excited at the thought of actually seeing snow fall for the first time ever, when I'm in England this winter (yes, I have never seen snow fall before. I live in Australia, okay?)

I think you'll be very lucky to see real snow if you're going to be in London, unfortunately. Maybe if you go up north in December/January time to see some sights, you might get some snow, but it's pretty rare here. Not as rare as in Australia, though. :-)

It has been snowing once or twice in London the last couple of winters and if it doesn't snow here just buy yourself a train ticket to Scotland when it does, they can be affordable.

*plugs gmail* ;p It's quite good, really.

Snow! I know what you mean. I was so flabbergasted when I saw snow fall in Munich. In the city! On the streets ;) (not mountains and resorts you have to organise yourself to go to, which I never do).
But It was quite sunny in London when I was there in Winter. Scotland was snow-crazy, though.

I love Johnny Depp, but I hesitate to see the new movie, because I adore the original so much. And Gene Wilder's a genius, as far as I'm concerned. hehe. Kinda Crazy-ish, but not totally bonkers as Wonka. It looks so different, from the ads.

Oh, and I got your letter, my dear *love* Thanks so much for the zines, I hadn't read one of them. Are you cleaning up your collection before you go?

Last I knew, London actually has warmer winters than we do here (in the midwest), even though they're at a higher latitude. You might have to go quest for snow. ;)

Just curious...
If you already know what you think (since you voted), why are you asking us? (Think I've seen you do this before... vote on your own polls, which means you already know what you think... and still you ask people.)

Re: Just curious...
I only voted so I could see easier what the answer to the poll was from my journal screen. It saves logging in to the poll results page. and I still like getting other people's feedback because what I think is not always what I end up choosing after I hear what other people have to say.

is that okay?

Re: Just curious...
It's fine, it just seemed so odd and I couldn't figure out why. :)
