present ideas :X
I need last minute male-orientated present ideas.

I ordered this dvd set as part of Noel's present, this cartoon that I thought he used to love. Well I got an email yesterday from the online store saying it wouldn't be shipped in time for Christmas because it was out of stock, and I told him about that, and what the present was (I do have other things for him, that he doesn't know what they are). It turns out he actually hates the show. I must not have been listening to the conversation so well that day after all.

Anyway, so I cancelled that part of the order. The rest of my order, some cds & music dvds of bands he loves, arrived yesterday, so I have something, but I still need ideas and have no idea what else to get him.

It was only his birthday last month, I used up all my ideas on that :\

What did you get your boyfriends/husbands/brothers/male friends for christmas this year?

I'm terrible with buying presents for men.

My budget is about $50-$80.

... it was nice to think I had completed my christmas shopping :\

normally i stick with dvds of tv shows i know cruz loves, or cds i know he's had his eye on. this year i got him a dvd set ["family guy" vol. 3] and a music dvd. in the past though i've gotton him a pair of shoes that he picked out, and once i made him a really easy fleece throw blanket.

normally i get really special things for him, but this year i decided instead of trying to be all girly, romantic and thoughtful (because I've run out of ideas) that I will just go and by him what he WANTS. We do lots f shopping together so I get to learn what he wants. (he is a man that doesnt mind shopping, horrah!)
I took him in a zillion shops and told him to point out everything he likes. And then I got him:
one playstation game he likes
one book he likes
one cd he likes!

other years i got him real novelty ideas. such ideas like a fondue set or a picnic basket. i often have ideas like this. sometimes its nice to get things you can share!

i always tell him my present ideas to see if he "approves" them or not. he likes to get things that he knows, for sure, that he can use/enjoy (perhaps this is part of the reason he is an engineer?)
this year since i am short on money i am making him one of those sleeping masks, since he can't sleep in a lighted room, which makes day time napping difficult.

Leigh isn't too hard usually, because we tend to like some of the same geeky stuff, so I browse games and movies. This year I got him volume one of Ducktales on dvd. And a copy of Angels and Demons (he loved the Davinci Code). Last year I got him America the Book, which was put out by the Daily Show. So really anything with some snarky humour, or games.

I got D some Lush stuff (Sonic Death Monkey and Demon In The Dark - mmm, so minty!), a tshirt with "unaustralian" written on the front, and some DVDs... My Dad is getting a gift hamper from Oxfam of Fair Trade stuff, and my Grandfather some stuff from Lush, too. I also got them all gifts from TEAR Australia... which aren't exactly for them... but next year that's all they'll be getting! or maybe a mango plantation from Oxfam... I'm just breaking them in slowly. :)

that's a really great idea, I was going to do that this year, but since it's our first christmas together, i sort of wanted to get him something for him, but I definitely think I will do the Tear Australia/Oxfam Unwrapped thing next year.

oh god I know your problem. After 3 years being with with gary i am running out of ideas. This xmas I got him: dvd, slippers and a hangover cure thingy. Over the years i have given him the most ludicrous gifts.hehe. I got him a paint set, van gogh painting, books, scarf, dvd's/ cd's, underwear, nightmare before christmas stuff, etc etc etc. I suppose it's just a matter of being fishy. evenually you will find what you are looking for:-)

I typically pick up some DVDs or books.
You can get a whole season of his favorite show for around $50
