phone networks
This is a question for the Australian girls on my friends list... what mobile phone network are you on?

[I'm on Telstra, but am contemplating buying a new phone & switching networks, either to Optus or Vodafone, but am not sure which yet. May be decided by where I can get the most value from "free time", ie, network-to-network calls...]

I'm on prepaid because I'm not wed to my phone, but I use Vodafone, hun. Never had a complaint. (Telstra is nasty and overcharge-ariffic though. Smart thinking, getting out - unless you're a loooooooong term customer with multiple services/in an isolated area it isn't worth it)

I am with Virgin and haven't had a problem. Incidentally, a friend just had a terrible experience with Optus--she purchased a phone from them and it has been consistently faulty. She's sent it away three times for service, sent it away last week again and got a call yesterday saying that it can't be fixed. However, they have charged her a $50 delivery fee for sending it away and when she said that she was never told about a fee and wasn't paying it, they told her that it had already been charged to her account. Needless to say, she's changing providers.

I'm on a $79 cap with Optus. Never had any problems, except they overcharged m e once on a phone bill but I called and they refunded the moneys

Vodafone. I've been with everyone (three, virgin, optus, telstra) and so far they're the best.

I have a $29 cap with three. All good so far although who knows what will happen now Vodafone is taking them over.

I'm currently with Virgin & have never had the slightest problem with them. Have been with them for *thinks* wow! I think it would be over four years now. I can't fault them in the slightest actually. I've never had any annoying telemarketing from them either. The odd (very odd) thing in the mail trying to get me to upgrade my phone/plan but that is all.

The very first mobile I had (way back in high school) was with Vodaphone & I can't fault them either. I wouldn't hesitate going back to them. My mother got a mobile a year or so after me and is still with vodaphone. The only reason I changed companies was I wanted a new phone and at the time, all the Vodaphone cap plans were too pricey for someone who hardly ever used their phone.

In between Vodaphone & Virgin I was with Optus and despite not really changing my phone calling habits my $20 odd phone bill suddenly became a $50+ phonebill. Lost the phone, somehow & unless for a mighty good deal, wouldn't contemplate going back (despite the fact that everything else at home is Optus). Actually the annoying buggers phoned last night @ 8pm trying to convince me to get an Optus mobile. *meh*
